this is one of my favorite korean dishes. it’s a sweet and savory dish, and it’s easy to make!
i love to eat this with rice and kimchi. the base of the recipe can be found on this website.
serves 4
1 lb thinly sliced beef steak (you can find this at most asian supermarkets)
1/4 C soy sauce (i would highly recommend one of the asian soy sauces)
2-3 tbsp of sesame oil
1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
1 kiwi fruit, asian pear, or fuji apple pureed in a food processor
1 onion, thinly sliced
2-3 cloves garlic, finely minced
5 green onions, finely chopped
2 tbsp rice wine or sake
sugar
- combine all the marinade ingredients (everything except beef). add sugar to taste. the marinade should be slightly sweet.
- add the beef, and make sure it is well coated. marinate for at least an hour (overnight preferred).
-
place aluminum foil on grill, and heat the grill* (this is so the meat won’t fall through when grilling). grill the mean until cooked; it should take 2-3 minutes per side.
*note: you can also pan fry the bulgogi.
[...] hit. :) i was very pleased with how it turned out. i think it tastes more authentic than the bulgolgi recipe i use. this recipe is based on this recipe. [...]
